“Oh! Yes Ma’am, winter is on the way. Do you like rollercoasters?
Caller: “No, not really, why?”

Old man winter is finally arriving after an unusally mild January. Weather Monkey revealed to MNN this past Saturday that low 30s and upper 20s morning lows were expected to arrive by Monday and Tuesday mornings. Forecasters are predicting a “Polar Coaster” ride during the month of February with the biggest temperature drops taking hold in the northern Plains into the Great Lakes.
The Northeast part of the country, including the very densely populated area running from Washington, DC to Boston will likely experience colder-than-normal temperatures for much of the remaing winter season.
It is likely that the western third of the country will see near-normal temperatures.
Weather Monkey has been told that the coldest outbreak of the winter season should happen during the final week of January and last through the beginning of February.
As far as winter precipitation, the eastern third of the country can expect above-normal precipitation. The Pacific Northwest and Southwest should experience near-normal precipitation.
While colder-than-normal temperatures are expected in the Northeast as well as above-normal precipitation there is a high chance of a higher than normal amopunt of snow, but also a wintry mix of rain and sleet, especially along the coastal areas.
Readers have also emailed Weather Monkey about the arrival of Spring…while you Monkey Fans in the southeast part of the country shouldn’t be concerned, those of you in the Midwest, Great Lakes, Northeast and New England areas should expect a slow start for Spring as winter should linger across your areas. The “Polar Coaster” ride may be a long ride for you folks. I’m sure you all that live in those regions of the county remember the “Polar Vortex” of last year, right? Y’all should be making preparations for Polar Vortex-Part 2 AKA the Polar Coaster of 2020.
So bundle up you northerners, it’s gonna get cold.
Southeasterners?
You folks should know that the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane forecast is suggesting that the 2020 Hurricane Season will likely be close to normal.
Hurrican Season begins June 1st.
